Some of you may be wondering where I got the idea for the title of my blog, well I’ll tell you. The title of my blog is derived from the title of the Off-Broadway Musical “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” you may as well know now that I am some what of a musical “fanatic” so I will probably use my extensive knowledge of that universe every so often in my posts, but for today this has almost nothing to do with the musical itself or its content, but strictly how I connected to it’s title.
When I was trying to come up with a title for my blog, I was also trying to think of what I should write about. I decided that I wanted to express all my generally unheard philosophical thoughts, and the title to this show suddenly popped into my head. For me, it’s quite relevant to society considering how we always say how great someone is, but we can also still find their flaws. It’s ironic, witty, funny and almost sad due to how true it really is. I decided to alter the title a little bit due to an English essay I was once handed back with the instruction that it was a perfectly written essay, but the teacher wanted me to change it to fit how they felt the message of the story we wrote about should have came across. This angered and still angers me because I feel that writing is about freedom of expression, and if you tell someone that how they felt about something is wrong you are denying them the basic right to think for themselves. This made me think that it isn’t always just people that soceity tells to change, but their inventions and ideas to. Thus came “That’s perfect, now change.”
